Vacuum-insulated piping

Vacuum-insulated piping (VIP), from site survey to annual service.

Vacuum-insulated pipe (VIP) — also called vacuum jacketed pipe (VJP) — is the most efficient way to move cryogenic liquid from your tank to the point of use with minimal heat leak. JoyCan designs, engineers, supplies, installs and services complete VIP/VJP systems — built around your facility for maximum efficiency and long service life.

Why vacuum-insulated pipe

Keep the liquid cold, all the way to the doser.

In both vacuum-insulated pipe (VIP) and vacuum jacketed pipe (VJP), a vacuum jacket surrounds the inner cryogenic line with a high vacuum and multilayer insulation, virtually eliminating heat leak. That means less product loss to boil-off, stable pressure and clean, consistent liquid arriving at every use point — exactly what a precise doser needs. (The two terms describe the same technology; suppliers use them interchangeably.)

  • Minimal heat leak and boil-off vs. foam-insulated line
  • Stable pressure and reliable liquid delivery
  • Rigid and flexible pipe, engineered to your route
  • Built to last — decades of dependable service

Our custom-engineered process

Every VIP system is designed for your site.

No off-the-shelf runs. We engineer the optimum layout for performance, efficiency and long-term reliability — then stand behind it.

  1. 1

    Site visit

We come to your facility to walk the route, tank to use point.

  2. 2

    Measurements

We take precise field measurements of every run, drop and obstacle.

  3. 3

    Isometric sketches

We draw up isometric sketches of the proposed system for sign-off.

  4. 4

    Design & engineer

We engineer the layout for maximum efficiency and long service life.

  5. 5

    Supply & install

We supply the pipe and install it with certified technicians.

  6. 6

    Service annually

We inspect and service the full system every year to keep it efficient.

Optional — with a service agreement, not standard with the install.

Engineered components

The right parts for a leak-tight, low-loss run.

We build each system from a complete range of vacuum-jacketed components, specified to your application:

  • Bayonet fittings — vacuum-insulated, leak-tight connections between sections
  • Cryovents — keep the line full of liquid, delivering liquid in seconds
  • Gas traps & drops — keep liquid out of non-insulated segments between cycles
  • Manifolds & use points — engineered for multi-doser and multi-line layouts
Liquid all the way to the doser

Phase separators & cryovents.

A doser needs single-phase liquid — not flash gas — at the nozzle. These components keep the line full of cold liquid so every dose counts.

Phase separators

A phase separator vents off gas and delivers single-phase liquid to the use point, so the first shot is liquid rather than flash gas — essential on longer runs or where supply pressure varies. We size and place it as part of the VIP/VJP design.

Cryovents

Cryovents keep the vacuum-jacketed line full of liquid right up to the doser, so it delivers liquid within seconds and minimizes boil-off between cycles — paired with vent heaters for reliable, clean venting.

Pipe range

Rigid and flexible VIP/VJP, sized to your route.

We combine rigid runs and flexible sections to navigate any facility — confirmed against your measurements during design.

📏

Rigid VIP

For straight, supported main runs. Inner line ½"–2", outer jacket up to 3½", standard lengths up to 30 ft, low heat leak per foot.

🌀

Flexible VIP

Braided flexible pipe for bends, drops and offsets. Flex inner ¾"–2", minimum bend radius 12"–20", lengths up to 60 ft.
